Healing Process and Results
Depending on the type of technique used, recovery time will vary. It will be important to follow your plastic surgeon’s directions regarding proper recovery practices in order to avoid any complications.
You’ll need to arrange a ride home for after your procedure, as you will not be able to drive yourself home. Getting back into daily activities should take a day or two, regardless of the type of surgery technique used. Any pain or discomfort after surgery can be managed with medication prescribed by the surgeon. Staying home from work for a time will be necessary.
There will be a degree of post-surgical swelling and bruising, and these normally take between one to two weeks to subside. Slight bruising may still be visible for up to three weeks and swelling will completely subside in about three months.
The full results of a facelift/neck lift surgery will gradually become apparent over time as swelling and bruising reduces. This usually takes around six months to fully achieve. Results will last from five to ten years, depending on how well a patient takes care of their body. Refraining from smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, practicing healthy eating, and exercising regularly go a long way towards maintaining a healthy and youthful look.
