The Abdominoplasty Procedure
It is important to remember that an abdominoplasty is very different from liposuction. While liposuction removes excess fat in numerous regions of the body as needed, the abdominoplasty focuses specifically on the abdomen. It can involve removal of excess fat, but it is also used to remove excess skin, tighten drooping muscles, and sometimes remove stretch marks.
The Healing Process
Both the variations of abdominoplasty can be handled on an outpatient basis, but for the full procedure, it is better to have someone assist you for the first few days. You will have a degree of bruising and swelling in the area, and to help these ameliorate, you will need to wear a post-surgical garment for a time.
It will be necessary to take some time off of work to recover. After a time, it will be easier to get back into your normal schedule and everyday tasks. You will need to avoid any strenuous tasks for a period of at least four weeks.
