Grant Heinz, MD, FAAO
Dr. Grant Heinz is a Board Certified Ophthalmic Facial Plastic Surgeon, bringing a greater breadth of experience in the fine details of facial and eye surgery.
Dr. Grant Heinz grew up in Hawaii spending much time at the beach and learned early on about the adverse effects of the sun on the skin. These experiences were a strong influence in pursuing a career base in skin cancer treatment and facial reconstruction.
Dr. Heinz graduated Magna Cum Laude in Chemistry from Brigham Young University. He attended medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine graduating with high honors and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After completing medical school, Dr. Heinz returned home to completed his Medical/Surgical Internship at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine.
His residency training was at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he developed a love for facial plastic surgery. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Ophthalmic Facial Plastic Surgery at Indiana University. During his fellowship he performed over 2000 facial plastic surgeries including extensive facial reconstruction for skin cancer, facial cosmetic surgery and became an expert in full facial post-trauma reconstruction.
After finishing his formal medical training, Dr. Heinz the next spent three years at the King Khalid Eye Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where he expanded his skills and knowledge with the diagnoses and treatment of many rare and complex eyelid, facial and sinus diseases and malformations.
Since moving to the Phoenix metropolitan area in 1996, Dr. Heinz has been practicing ophthalmic facial plastic surgery with a majority of his practice emphasizing facial reconstruction after skin cancer excision (Mohs surgery). During these last 20 years, Dr. Heinz has performed over 10,000 facial reconstructions related to skin cancer.
Outside of work, Dr. Heinz, enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, mountain biking, paddle boarding and surfing and serving youth as a Boy Scout leader.
